Σιρλοτσίχλονο - Emberiza cirlus

Την περίοδο αυτή τα σιρλοτσίχλονα (Emberiza cirlus) καλούν για ταίρι. Έτσι, ψάχνουν για μέρη στα δέντρα απ' όπου θα φαίνονται, δίνοντας έτσι ευκαιρία για μερικά καρέ.

This time of the year Cirl Buntings (Emberiza cirlus) are calling for mates. So, the try to find spots in the trees from where females can detect them, giving thus the chance to photograph them.

Όταν έρχεται η ομίχλη - When the fog comes

Τα σημάδια της ομίχλης έμειναν αφότου αυτή έφυγε...
Fog left its signs once in was gone...

Μόλις έφυγε η ομίχλη πόζαρε στο φακό αυτή η Αλκυόνη (Alcedo atthis).

Καλοχώρι μετά από καιρό... - Kalochori lagoon after some time...

Μια ομάδα 3 ακτίτων (Actitis hypoleucos) είχαν αρχίσει από νωρίς τα "παιχνίδια" ζευγαρώματος.
A group of 3 Common Sandpipers (Actitis hypoleucos) had already begun their mating "games".

Ένας αργυροτσικνιάς (Ardea alba) πέντε λευκοτσικνιάδες (Egretta garzetta) και ένας αρυροπελεκάνος (Pelecanus crispus) με φόντο τη Θεσσαλονίκη (ξεχωρίζει και το Καυτατζόγλειο!)
One Great Egret (Ardea alba), five Little Egrets (Egretta garzetta) and one Dalmatian Pelican (Pelecanus crispus) with Thessaloniki in the background (Thessaloniki is the second biggest city in Greece inhabited by approximately 1.000.000 citizens!)

Σκουφοβουτηχτάρια - Podiceps cristatus

Την εποχή αυτή τα σκουφοβουτηχτάρια (Podiceps cristatus) είναι παντού στους ελληνικούς υγροτόπους . Έχουν ήδη αρχίσει, όπως φαίνεται στο κεφάλι τους, να παίρνουν το αναπαραγωγικό πτέρωμά τους. Τα πουλιά των φωτογραφιών είχαν μαζευτεί για να τραφούν εκεί όπου ένας αγωγός μετέφερε νερό, συνεπώς και ψάρια, από τη φουσκωμένη λιμνοθάλασσα του Καλοχωρίου στη θάλασσα.

At this time of the year the great crested grebes (Podiceps cristatus) are everywhere across the greek wetlands. They have already, as it can be shown in their heads, begun to wear their reproductive plumage. The birds on the photos were gathered to feed next to a tube that was throwing water, as well as fish, from the flooded Kalochori lagoon into the sea.

Ο Αλιάκμονας είναι ένα πολύ σημαντικό ποτάμι για την χώρα μας, καθώς αποτελεί το μεγαλύτερο που βρίσκεται εξολοκλήρου και πηγάζει από αυτήν. Στον νομό Ημαθίας, μεταξύ του Βερμίου και των Πιέριων όρων σχηματίζονται τα λεγόμενα "Στενά του Αλιάκμονα". Η περιοχή είναι πολύ σημαντική για την πανίδα της, γιαυτό συγκεταλέγεται στο Δίκτυο Natura 2000, αλλά και στις Σημαντικές Περιοχές για τα Πουλιά.

Aliakmonas is a very important river for Greece, because it is the biggest river that fully belongs and springs from our country. In the prefecture of Imathia and between the mt Vermio and Pieria mountains it forms the "Aliakmonas Gorge" area. This area is of major importance because of its Fauna, and is thus contained in the Natura 2000 network and in the Important Bird Areas.
