Κιτρινοσουσουράδα - Yellow wagtail - Motacilla flava

 

Νεαρή κιτρινοσουσουράδα (Motacilla flava) στη λιμνοθάλασσα Καλοχωρίου. Οι φωτογραφίες είναι τραβηγμένες τον Ιούλιο του 2009. Το συγκεκριμένο πουλί μέσα σε 10 λεπτά είχε φάει 4 ελικοπτεράκια Crocothemis erythraea, που μπορείτε να δείτε στις δύο επόμενες φωτογραφίες. Το πρώτο είναι θηλυκό, ενώ το δεύτερο αρσενικό.

Juvenile yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava) at Kalochori lagoon. The photos were taken in July 2009. This individual ate in an interval of 10 minutes 4 dragonflies Crocothemis erythraea, photos of which you can see below. The first one is a female and the second a male.

Μυοκάστορας - Coypu - Myocastor coypus

Μυοκάστορας (Myocastor coypus) στο Γαλλικό ποταμό. Έχω επισκεφθεί τον Γαλλικό και την λιμνοθάλασσα Καλοχωρίου πολλές φορές, και το είχα άχτι να πετύχω έναν μυοκάστορα. Εντελώς τυχαία την τελευταία φορά είδα έναν να κάθεται πάνω σε καλάμια.

Coypu (Myocastor coypus) at Galikos river. I have visited Galikos and Kalochori lagoon many times and I've always wanted to see a coypu. Out of sheer luck the last I were there I saw one sitting atop some reeds.

Μία από τις πρώτες μου φωτογραφίες, ξεχασμένη σε κάποιο φάκελο στον υπολογιστή. Λευκοτσικνιάς (Egretta garzetta) κατά το ηλιοβασίλεμα στο Καλοχώρι.

Χειμωνογλάρονο - Sterna sandvicensis

Το χειμωνογλάρονο (Sterna sandvicensis) είναι το μόνο είδος γλαρονιού που παρατηρείται τυπικά και τον χειμώνα στην Ελλάδα, ενώ παρατηρείται έντονα και κατά τη μετανάστευση. Έχει την κλασσική σιλουέτα των γλαρονιών και τρέφεται με ψάρια.

Sandwich tern (Sterna sandvicensis) is the only tern species that is typically observed in Greece during the winter. It is also observed frequently during the migration period. It has the conventional tern's silhouette and it feeds on fish.

Όταν έρχεται η ομίχλη - When the fog comes

Μόλις έφυγε η ομίχλη πόζαρε στο φακό αυτή η Αλκυόνη (Alcedo atthis).
Once the fog was gone this Gommon Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) posed for my lens.

Καλοχώρι μετά από καιρό... - Kalochori lagoon after some time...

Μια ομάδα 3 ακτίτων (Actitis hypoleucos) είχαν αρχίσει από νωρίς τα "παιχνίδια" ζευγαρώματος.
A group of 3 Common Sandpipers (Actitis hypoleucos) had already begun their mating "games".

Shepherds with water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) visit Kalochori lagoon quite often.

Σκουφοβουτηχτάρια - Podiceps cristatus

Την εποχή αυτή τα σκουφοβουτηχτάρια (Podiceps cristatus) είναι παντού στους ελληνικούς υγροτόπους . Έχουν ήδη αρχίσει, όπως φαίνεται στο κεφάλι τους, να παίρνουν το αναπαραγωγικό πτέρωμά τους. Τα πουλιά των φωτογραφιών είχαν μαζευτεί για να τραφούν εκεί όπου ένας αγωγός μετέφερε νερό, συνεπώς και ψάρια, από τη φουσκωμένη λιμνοθάλασσα του Καλοχωρίου στη θάλασσα.

At this time of the year the great crested grebes (Podiceps cristatus) are everywhere across the greek wetlands. They have already, as it can be shown in their heads, begun to wear their reproductive plumage. The birds on the photos were gathered to feed next to a tube that was throwing water, as well as fish, from the flooded Kalochori lagoon into the sea.

Πάει καιρός από τότε που επισκεφθήκαμε τελευταία φορά τη λιμνοθάλασσα Καλοχωρίου (δεν υπάρχει χρόνος για εξορμήσεις βλέπετε...) και σιγά σιγά γεμίζει πουλιά. Δυστυχώς, λίγες οι ευκαιρίες για καλά καρέ, γιατί τα πουλιά είναι αρκετά βαθιά.

It's been a while since we last visited Kalochori lagoon (no time for excursion you see...) and it is begining to fill with birds/ Unfortunately, there were few chances for good frames because the birds are in the deep waters.

Τον ακτίτη (Actitis hypoleucos) συχνά τον συναντάμε σε πόλλά σημεία της χώρας κοντά σε νερά. Είναι ένα από τα όχι πολλά παρυδάτια πουλιά που συναντά κανείς και στην Θεσσαλονίκη, συγκεκριμένα αρκετά συχνά στην Κρήνη. Δυστυχώς, δεν είναι πολύ εύκολο να το φωτογραφίσης εκεί, γιαυτό οι φωτογραφίες είναι από την Λιμνοθάλασσα Καλοχωρίου.

Common tern - Ποταμογλάρονο (Sterna hirundo)

Little tern - Νανογλάρονο (Sterna albifrons)

One can easily observe terns in the city of Thessaloniki, but it is very difficult to photograph them, beacuse they are not approachable. If you have the patient to wait and see them fishing, it is a moment that you will never forget. They dive from the sky with an enormous speed and get on the air again usually with a fish in their mouth.

The common tern in the first photo is standing in the air and measuring the distance that seperates it from the target, which is a fish of course. The little tern in the second photo has just got a fish and is returning to its hatchling in order to feed it.

Τα γλαρόνια είναι πουλιά που κάποιος εύκολα μπορεί να συναντήσει στη Θεσσαλονίκη (μία βόλτα στην Κρήνη και το να μπορέσουμε να τα διακρίνουμε από τους γλάρους αρκεί). Δυστυχώς όμως δεν είναι εύκολα προσεγγίσιμα, συνεπώς οι φωτογραφίες αυτές δεν είναι από την πόλη μας. Το ποταμογλάρονο (Sterna hirundo) είναι φωτογραφιμένο στη λιμνοθάλασσα Καλοχωρίου, ενώ το νανογλάρονο (Sterna albifrons) κοντά στις εκβολές του Στρυμόνα.
