Butterflies - Silved-studded Blue (Πεταλούδες)

It always feels nice when you go back to your archive and find a photo that you have missed. That's what happen to me when I saw this photo of a Silver-studded Blue (Plebejus argus) dating back to May 2009 (I didn't even have my macro lense back then...). This photo was taken in Chortiatis Mt., next to the city of Thessaloniki.

Lacerta trilineata juvenile

Hyla arborea

Αν και ποτέ δεν έχω βγει με σκοπό να φωτογραφίσω ερπετά ή αμφίβια, όποτε τα συναντώ δεν λέω όχι στη φωτογράφισή τους. Έτσι, η νεαρή τρανόσαυρα (Lacerta trilineata) φωτογραφήθηκε στο Φόδελε του νομού Ηρακλείο την περασμένη άνοιξη. Η άλλη σαύρα φωτογραφήθηκε το Μάιο του 2009 στο όρος Χορτιάτη (πιθανότατα Lacerta viridis). Ο δενδροβάτραχος (Hyla arborea) είναι από τη λίμνη Κουρνά στην Κρήτη.

Even though I have never arranged a photographic excursion in order just to shoot reptiles or amphibians, everytime I meet them I photograph them. So, the juvenile Balkan Green Lizard (Lacerta trilineata) was photographed at Fodele, Heraklion. The other lizard was photograph in May 209 at Chortiatis Mountain (probalby Lacerta viridis). The European Tree Frog (Hyla arborea) is from Kournas Lake in Crete.

Σιρλοτσίχλονο - Emberiza cirlus

Την περίοδο αυτή τα σιρλοτσίχλονα (Emberiza cirlus) καλούν για ταίρι. Έτσι, ψάχνουν για μέρη στα δέντρα απ' όπου θα φαίνονται, δίνοντας έτσι ευκαιρία για μερικά καρέ.

This time of the year Cirl Buntings (Emberiza cirlus) are calling for mates. So, the try to find spots in the trees from where females can detect them, giving thus the chance to photograph them.

Ψάχνοντας για σκίουρους στον Χορτιάτη και στα Πλατανάκια εντοπίσαμε έναν πευκοδρυοκολάπτη (Dendrocopos major) να χτυπά με μανία ένα πεύκο. Πρώτη φορά ένας έστω και λίγο συνεργάσιμος δρυοκολάπτης. Έτσι, κατάφερα να τραβήξω μερικά καρέ, αν και τα δέντρα στην περιοχή είναι πολύ ψηλά και έτσι η απόσταση που μας χώριζε ήταν μεγάλη.

While we were searching for squirrels at Chortiatis Mt and Platanakia forest, we spotted one Great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) hitting with fury one pine tree. This was the first time that I met one co-operative woodpecker. So, I managed to capture some instants, even though the trees in the aera are very tall and subsequently our distance was quite big.

Χορτιάτης

Γαλαζοπαπαδίτσα (Parus caeruleus), συνάντησα αρκετές στον Χορτιάτη, όπως και καστανοπαπαδίτσες και καλόγερους.

Χιόνια

Η δεύτερη επίσκεψη του χιονιά δεν έφερε τα χιόνια στο Σέιχ-Σου, γιαυτό έκανα μία μίνι εξόρμηση στο Χορτιάτη. Δυστυχώς δεν είχε πολλά πουλιά, αλλά αντιθέτως είχε αρκετή ομίχλη. Έτσι, κατάφερα να φωτογραφίσω μόνο τον κότσυφα (Turdus merula) της φωτογραφίας.
