Ψάχνοντας για σκίουρους στον Χορτιάτη και στα Πλατανάκια εντοπίσαμε έναν πευκοδρυοκολάπτη (Dendrocopos major) να χτυπά με μανία ένα πεύκο. Πρώτη φορά ένας έστω και λίγο συνεργάσιμος δρυοκολάπτης. Έτσι, κατάφερα να τραβήξω μερικά καρέ, αν και τα δέντρα στην περιοχή είναι πολύ ψηλά και έτσι η απόσταση που μας χώριζε ήταν μεγάλη.

While we were searching for squirrels at Chortiatis Mt and Platanakia forest, we spotted one Great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) hitting with fury one pine tree. This was the first time that I met one co-operative woodpecker. So, I managed to capture some instants, even though the trees in the aera are very tall and subsequently our distance was quite big.

Γερακίνα - Buteo buteo

Στην πόλη μας υπάρχουν και πολλά αρπακτικά. Ένα αρκετά κοινό είδος στο Σέιχ - Σου κυρίως είναι η γερακίνα (Buteo buteo).

In our city there are plenty of birds of prey species. One common species in Seih - Sou mountain is the common buzzard (Buteo buteo).

Πλατανάκια - Platanakia

Μία εξόρμηση στα Πλατανάκια πάντα έχει να δώσει κάτι. Έτσι, την τελευταία φορά που επισκέφθηκα την περιοχή κατάφερα να φωτογραφίσω κάτι ασυνήθιστο για την Θεσσαλονίκη, που είναι οι νερόκοτες (Gallinula chloropus).

An excursion at Platanakia always gives instants. So, the last time that I visited the area I was able to photograph something unusual for Thessaloniki, which was the common moorhen (Gallinula chloropus).

Πάει καιρός από τότε που επισκεφθήκαμε τελευταία φορά τη λιμνοθάλασσα Καλοχωρίου (δεν υπάρχει χρόνος για εξορμήσεις βλέπετε...) και σιγά σιγά γεμίζει πουλιά. Δυστυχώς, λίγες οι ευκαιρίες για καλά καρέ, γιατί τα πουλιά είναι αρκετά βαθιά.

It's been a while since we last visited Kalochori lagoon (no time for excursion you see...) and it is begining to fill with birds/ Unfortunately, there were few chances for good frames because the birds are in the deep waters.

Ασημόγλαροι - Larus cachinnans

Άφθονοι παντού, έτσι και μέσα στην πόλη. Στα διάφορα λιμανάκια, για παράδειγμα στην Κρήνη, μπορεί κανείς να πετύχει μερικές καλές πόζες σε πτήση. Αφού λοιπόν πήγα μέχρι την Κρήνη μπας και πετύχω κανένα πιο "ιδιαίτερο" είδος γλάρου, αρκέστηκα στην φωτογράφηση ασημόγλαρων.

They are abundant everywhere, as well as in the city. In the various ports of the city, Krini for example, someone can capture nice flight instants. I went at Krini in order to check if any "more peculiar" gull species was there, instead I was merely satisfied by photographing yellow-legged gulls.
