Μπεκατσίνια - Common Snipes - Gallinago gallinago

Όπως φαίνεται και από τις φωτογραφίες τα μπεκατσίνια (Gallinago gallinago) γνωρίζουν πολύ καλά πως να καμουφλάρονται. Αν και αυτό σε δυσκολεύει να τα δεις, τουλάχιστον τα κάνει να μη φεύγουν γρήγορα, δίνοντάς σου έτσι την ευκαιρία να τα φωτογραφήσεις. Οι φωτογραφίες είναι από την Καταλύκη Ηρακλείου.

As it is obvious from the photos, Common Snipes (Gallinago gallinago) know very well how to camoufladge. Although this make them difficult to spot, it makes them less fearless and delays their departure giving you the chance to photograph them. These photos were taken at Kataliki, Herakleion.

Αν και ποτέ δεν έχω βγει με σκοπό να φωτογραφίσω ερπετά ή αμφίβια, όποτε τα συναντώ δεν λέω όχι στη φωτογράφισή τους. Έτσι, η νεαρή τρανόσαυρα (Lacerta trilineata) φωτογραφήθηκε στο Φόδελε του νομού Ηρακλείο την περασμένη άνοιξη. Η άλλη σαύρα φωτογραφήθηκε το Μάιο του 2009 στο όρος Χορτιάτη (πιθανότατα Lacerta viridis). Ο δενδροβάτραχος (Hyla arborea) είναι από τη λίμνη Κουρνά στην Κρήτη.

Even though I have never arranged a photographic excursion in order just to shoot reptiles or amphibians, everytime I meet them I photograph them. So, the juvenile Balkan Green Lizard (Lacerta trilineata) was photographed at Fodele, Heraklion. The other lizard was photograph in May 209 at Chortiatis Mountain (probalby Lacerta viridis). The European Tree Frog (Hyla arborea) is from Kournas Lake in Crete.

Μαυροτσιροβάκοι - Sardinian Warbler - Sylvia melanocephala

Συνέχεια με φωτογραφίες μέσα από την πόλη, οι μαυροτσιροβάκοι αυτοί (Sylvia melanocephala) φωτογραφήθηκαν στο παρκάκι δίπλα από τη Χανιόπορτα.

We continue with photos from inside the city, these Sardinian Warblers (Sylvia melanocephala) were photographed at the park next to Chanioporta.

Κοτσύφια - Blackbirds - Turdus merula

Επιστροφή μετά από πολύ καιρό... Καμία ευκαιρία για εξορμήσεις και προβληματάκια με τον εξοπλισμό είναι ο λόγος. Καθώς όμως τα προβλήματα φαίνεται πως λύθηκαν, εξακολουθεί να μη δίνεται ευκαιρία για εξορμήσεις. Και αφού δεν πήγε ο Μωάμεθ στο βουνό, αποφάσισε το βουνό να έρθει σε αυτόν. Δυο κοτσύφια (Turdus merula) λοιπόν, εμφανίστηκαν στο απέναντι μπαλκόνι, επιτρέποντάς μου αρκετά καρέ αν και απουσία ήλιου δυστυχώς. Έτσι, το ιστολόγιο ξαναβρήκε το λόγο της ύπαρξής του, τη φωτογράφιση δηλαδή πουλιών σε αστικό περιβάλλον (στο Ηράκλειο πλέον και όχι στη Θεσσαλονίκη)! Σίγουρα στο μέλλον θα ξαναπαραστρατήσω, αλλά ευκαιρία να βγάλω και μερικά αστικά καρέ.

I return after a long time... During this whole time I had no opportunity to go out and photograph and I also had some problems with my equipment. Though the problems seem to belong to the past, the lack of free time is still here. So, instead of me going to the field, the "field" came to me. Two blackbirds (Turdus merula) appeared in the balcony of a house across mine letting me take quite a few frames of them, though the sun was unfortunately missing. Therefore, this blog found again its meaning, which is to show pictures of birds in the urban environment (At Heraklion now and not in Thessaloniki)! I'm sure that in the future I will once more forget it and start shooting in the "real field", but until then it's a good opportunity to caprure some urban frames.

Όρνια - Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus)

Επιστροφή στις αναρτήσεις μετά από καιρό. Η απουσία οφείλεται σε μετακόμιση στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης για περαιτέρω σπουδές, οπότε η φωτογράφιση ήταν αδύνατη. Από εδώ και πέρα λοιπόν, τα "Πουλιά της Θεσσαλονίκης" μεταφέρουν τη δραστηριότητά τους στην Κρήτη.

Η πρώτη εξόρμηση στο νέο περιβάλλον ήταν φανταστική. Έγινε στο Όρος Γιούχτας, όπου το τοπίο και μόνο στο κόβει την ανάσα. Αντικειμενικός στόχος η φωτογράφιση Όρνεων (Gyps fulvus). Τελικά αρκέστηκα περισσότερο στην παρατήρηση Όρνεων, γιατί η εμπειρία να πετάνε γύρω σου συνέχεια 5 Όρνια (πιθανώς να ήταν 6 ή 7) ήταν μοναδική. Η συνέχεια ελπίζω να είναι το ίδιο εντυπωσιακή...

Finally, an entry after a long time. The absence was due to a removal at Herakleion, Crete for further studies, so it was impossible to photograph. From now on the "Birds of Thessaloniki" transport their activity to Crete.

The first excursion in the new environment was fantastic. It took place at Mt Giouhtas, where the landscape on its own was breathtaking. The objective was to photograph Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus). In the end, I was satisfied with just observing the Vultures, because the experience of having 5 of them (probably 6 or 7) was unique. I hope that future excursions are going to this impressive as well...
