Όρνια - Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus)

Επιστροφή στις αναρτήσεις μετά από καιρό. Η απουσία οφείλεται σε μετακόμιση στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης για περαιτέρω σπουδές, οπότε η φωτογράφιση ήταν αδύνατη. Από εδώ και πέρα λοιπόν, τα "Πουλιά της Θεσσαλονίκης" μεταφέρουν τη δραστηριότητά τους στην Κρήτη.

Η πρώτη εξόρμηση στο νέο περιβάλλον ήταν φανταστική. Έγινε στο Όρος Γιούχτας, όπου το τοπίο και μόνο στο κόβει την ανάσα. Αντικειμενικός στόχος η φωτογράφιση Όρνεων (Gyps fulvus). Τελικά αρκέστηκα περισσότερο στην παρατήρηση Όρνεων, γιατί η εμπειρία να πετάνε γύρω σου συνέχεια 5 Όρνια (πιθανώς να ήταν 6 ή 7) ήταν μοναδική. Η συνέχεια ελπίζω να είναι το ίδιο εντυπωσιακή...

Finally, an entry after a long time. The absence was due to a removal at Herakleion, Crete for further studies, so it was impossible to photograph. From now on the "Birds of Thessaloniki" transport their activity to Crete.

The first excursion in the new environment was fantastic. It took place at Mt Giouhtas, where the landscape on its own was breathtaking. The objective was to photograph Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus). In the end, I was satisfied with just observing the Vultures, because the experience of having 5 of them (probably 6 or 7) was unique. I hope that future excursions are going to this impressive as well...

Τελικά, μια βόλτα στην εξοχή με τον macro φακό είναι κάτι το φανταστικό. Μπορεί η απαιτήσεις της macro φωτογραφίας να είναι ζόρικες, ειδικά αν φυσάει έστω και λίγο αεράκι, αλλά η εμπειρία είναι μοναδική. Ένας τελείως διαφορετικός κόσμος ανοίγεται μπροστά σου. Εσύ το μόνο που έχεις να κάνεις είναι να είσαι σε ετοιμότητα, και να έχεις προμηθευτεί αρκετή υπομονή. Το ταξίδι όμως τώρα άρχισε και έχω πολύ δρόμο ακόμα να διανύσω...

Eventually, a walk in the nature with a macro lens is something amazing. The requirements of the macro photography may be tough, especially if there is even a low wind, yet the experience is unique. A whole new world shows up in your eyes. The only thing that you have to do is to be always ready and to carry a lot of patience. The journey has just begun and I still have a long way to go...

Έχει δύο μήνες περίπου που πήρα επιτέλους τον macro φακό που ήθελα. Εκτός όμως από την πρώτη "δοκιμαστική" εξόρμηση που έκανα, δεν μου έχει δοθεί καμία άλλη ευκαιρία για να βγω να φωτογραφίσω! Περιμένω πως και πως τις επόμενες μέρες που σχεδιάζω να ξαναετοιμάσω τη μηχανή για "βολτούλα". Βάζω μερικές φωτογραφίες που τράβηξε στην μοναδική μέχρι στιγμής προσπάθεια του φακού. Είναι κοινά είδη βέβαια, αλλά με εντυπωσίασε η macro ικανότητα του φακού.

It's been almost two months since I've finally got the macro lens that I wanted. However, except from the first "trial" excursion that I preformed, I haven't been given any chance to go out and take some photos! I am anxiously waiting for the next couple of days, when I'm planning to pack my camera for a little "ride". Here are some sampling photos that I took that "trial" day. The species are common, but I was nevertheless impressed by the macro ability of the lens.

Βγαίνοντας από το Παλάτι του Δόγη μας περίμενε μια έκπληξη... που δεν ήταν άλλη από τον Τζόνυ Ντεπ!
Once we came out of the Doge's Palace a surprise was waiting for as... and that was Johnny Depp!

Μετά από τη επίσκεψη στη Βασιλική του Αγίου Μάρκου, πήγαμε στο Παλάτι του Δόγη, που βρίσκεται ακριβώς από δίπλα. Η αρχιτεκτονική του για ακόμη μία φορά εκπληκτική, έπρεπε άλλωστε να φανερώνει την ισχύ του απόλυτου άρχοντα της Γαληνοτάτης Δημοκρατίας. Το εσωτερικό όμως δεν υπάρχουν λόγια για να περιγραφεί (δυστυχώς ούτε φωτογραφίες, καθώς απαγορευόταν). Αίθουσες γεμάτες χρυσό και υπερπολύτιμα έργα τέχνης, σε κάνουν να νιώθεις σαν να ζεις σε άλλη εποχή. Βγαίνοντας από το Παλάτι, συναντήσαμε τον διάσημο ηθοποιό Τζόνυ Ντεπ, που γύριζε μια σκηνή για την ταινία "The Tourist" στην πλατεία του Αγίου Μάρκου. Φεύγοντας για το Λίντο και ξέροντας πως δεν θα ξαναγυρίσουμε, τουλάχιστον όχι σύντομα, την ήδη βαριά ατμόσφαιρα ήρθε να συμπληρώσει το τελευταίο μαγευτικό τοπίο...

After the visit to San Marco's Basilica we visited the Doge's Palace, that stands next to the church. The architecture for once more was amazing, besides, it had to appeal the power of the ultimate lord of the Most Serene Republic. The inner part of the palace cannot be described (neither photographed, because it's forbitten). The halls were full of gold and precious pieces of art. thus making you fell like living in another era. When we exited the palace we saw the famous actor Johnny Depp, who was filming a scene for the movie "The Tourist" in the San Marco's Square. Finally, while sailing for Lido and knowing that we won't return back, at least not soon enough, the already "heavy" atmosphere was completed by the last magical landscape...
